From the beginning...

I'll be honest with you.  I've never been much of a journal keeper, as evidenced by my numerous half-filled puppy and flower covered diaries, but I wanted to figure out a way to keep my friends, families and totally random strangers up to date with my newest endeavor... RUNNING the New York City Half Marathon.  Now I know that I've run longer distances before, but this race is different for a couple of reasons:
  1. I am, for once in my life, running for speed.  Not like being chased by a pack of angry hyenas speed or running for the shoe section on the first day of the Barney's Warehouse Sale speed, but something a bit more challenging and uncomfortable than my usual plodding/trotting along pace.  My GOAL is to set a Personal Record for 13.1 miles.  If I manage to accomplish this Herculean task, Adam Moser will donate more money to the Ronald McDonald House.  Which brings me to...
  2. I am, for the first time ever, running to raise money for the Ronald McDonald House of New York City (RMDH).  I have spent nearly every Thursday night at "The Ronald," as I affectionately call it, since 2007.  As I log more miles, and therefore entries, I'll reveal why the Ronald McDonald House is such a huge part of my life.  HINT - You can click on the link about to donate, or click on the link to the right that says DONATE HERE!
I invite you to follow me on this journey.  It won't be pretty (we're talking sweat and spandex), and it won't be easy, but it will be worth it.  Over the past five years I have met so many incredibly inspiring heroes at The Ronald.  I will, with their permission, introduce some of them to you on this very blog.  There are others, however, whose stories only I can share with you, as they are no longer here to tell you themselves.

This blog will bring, "something for everyone," as Stephen Sondheim once wrote. There will be something funny, something sad, something appalling, something heart warming, etc. etc.

So stay tuned for the next update... with my athletic prowess and grace, it's bound to make you laugh!
